About Us
Capstone Building’s Commitment to Sustainability.
Going green on a multifamily project is not easy. However, Capstone Building is committed to delivering successful, sustainable projects while staying within budget.

Building a Better Way for Better Communities.
According to USGBC, earning LEED certification has both environmental and financial benefits. LEED-certified buildings are designed to lower operating costs, increase asset value, reduce waste sent to landfills and conserve energy and water. They are also healthier and safer for occupants and qualify for tax rebates, zoning allowances and other incentives in hundreds of cities.
Our most recent sustainable projects include Parkside at Mechanicsville, which achieved a LEED® Silver certification and Maple Hills Apartments, which is currently registered with LEED for Homes and anticipates a LEED Gold certification.
What is LEED for Homes?
LEED for Homes is a third-party certification system for building and designing high-performance, energy-efficient homes that provide green, healthy living for occupants.
Developed and administered by USGBC, LEED for Homes awards points to projects in eight categories of environmental performance:
- Innovation & Design Process
- Location & Linkages
- Sustainable Sites
- Water Efficiency
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Energy & Atmosphere
- Materials & Resources and
- Awareness & Education.
To date, more than 18,000 units have achieved certification with LEED for Homes program, and over 75,000 have registered and are in process.
