Jay Chapman

Founder, President &

Jay Chapman founded Capstone Building Corp. in 1997 and currently serves as President. Under his exemplary direction, Capstone has become a leading general contractor in the industry.

With over 40 years of experience in the construction industry, Jay possesses a comprehensive understanding of every facet of the business, from day-to-day operations to long-term strategy. His personal, hands-on management style and commitment to Capstone’s clients, employees, and culture have driven 28 years of exceptional performance and satisfaction. Jay realizes his commitment to every project and client is just as crucial as the employees on the job. He makes certain that every member of his team is equipped with the knowledge, plans, and tools they need to complete each project successfully.

Jay is an active member in the industry and currently serves as a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. of Alabama, the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), and the Association of College and University Housing Officers International (ACUHOI). He is a member of the Birmingham Rotary Club and holds a Merchant Marine / U.S. Coast Guard Captains’ license for 100-ton vessels. He also serves on the Advisory Council for the Tigers Unlimited Foundation at Auburn University. Jay holds general contractor state licenses in Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington.

Danny Stevens

Danny Stevens has served as the Executive Vice President of Field Operations with Capstone Building Corp. since 1997 and is an incredible asset to our team. In his role, Danny oversees the planning, organization, staffing and controlling operations of each project, while guiding his project superintendents down the roadmap that is established during the preconstruction process, which then flows into the actual building process.

With nearly four decades of experience in managing complex commercial, industrial, institutional and multifamily construction projects, Danny’s exceptional ability to lead and manage a diverse workforce in challenging environments, both internally and subcontracted, continues to put Capstone Building Corp. at the top of its industry.

Hubert Proctor

Hubert Proctor joined Capstone 21 years ago and currently serves as Director of Construction. In this role, Hubert is responsible for quality control and schedule compliance on his assigned projects. He ensures success through involvement in all operational aspects and by effectively managing a team of superintendents and assistant superintendents. A former United States Marine, Hubert’s respected leadership skills, paired with his technical industry expertise, ensure Capstone’s operations consistently meet the highest standards of excellence.

Hubert’s previous experience as Building Inspector, Chief Building Official, and Community Development Director for several counties in South Carolina has honed his ability to manage large teams, enforce building codes, and maintain compliance with safety standards, allowing him to further showcase his proficiency in urban planning, inspection, and regulatory processes.

Hubert is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Building Official Association of South Carolina, the American Association of Code Enforcement Officials, the National Association of Home Builders, and the International Code Council. His certifications include Building Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector, Zoning and Property Standards Inspector, Housing and Rehabilitation Code Enforcement Officer, and Fire Inspector Levels 1 and 2. These credentials reflect his dedication to helping Capstone Building maintain the highest standards of safety, compliance, and excellence in the construction industry.

Josh Barnett
